Danger Mouse and Sparklehorse Present: Dark Night of the Soul

So currently my life works in the following manner.

1. Read this – St. John of the Cross – Dark Night of the Soul [PDF]

2. See this poster

3. Read this [at the time of reading the fifth most read news story on the BBC news website].

4. Download the album [LINK REMOVED]

5. Buy the book with attached blank CD so you have the option to listen to the previously downloaded album on a CD player should you choose, and get some great limited edition David Lynch artwork.

And to be honest I was sold by the end of the opening track ‘Revenge’ with Wayne Coyne.

But what is this ongoing dispute with EMI? Everything seems a bit calculated – the posters anonymously posted to journalists to build up hype, the ‘ongoing dispute’, the informative wikipedia article, the bbc news article, the readily available rapidshare links, the lack of legal warnings against bloggers posting the material…

Maybe I shouldn’t be so sceptical.

It’s a great album and a nice inventive way of releasing it in the face of adversity, that is all there is to it…

Revenge – Danger Mouse and Sparklehorse feat. Wayne Koyne [[LINK REMOVED]]

The links have been removed after the tracks were removed from hosting by an unnamed party. I’ll take a stab that would be EMI then…
