Brighton Port Authority – Toes

I’m a great fan of Dizzee Rascal, but have to say that Port Authority’s ‘Toes’, is probably better off without him.

David Byrne’s melody and lyrics are incredible, and this could have lined up to be a big summer hit, still might.

The addition of Dizzee Rascal in the newer version just makes the whole thing a little bit too cluttered.

The Brighton Port Authority is a series of collaborations between Fatboy Slim and other artists. This includes Norman and Iggy Pop covering the track ‘He’s Frank’ orginally by the Monochrome Set.. Quite a juxstaposition of musical styles really..

The Monochrome Set were a English post-punk band formed in 1976, Their debut single was ‘He’s Frank’ inspired by Fad Gadget [Frank Tovey] who was an early avant-garde electronic musician, pushing some of the first forms of New Wave and Industrial music in Britain
